Paul Morton has been playing trumpet since age 11. He attended the University of Alabama where he studied with Michael Johnson. While at the University, he played with various student ensembles, the University brass quintet and the Tuscaloosa Community Orchestra. Since that time, Paul has been a freelance professional musician playing orchestral and solo literature throughout Birmingham and surrounding areas. Paul is currently principle trumpet and has been with The Red Mountain Chamber Orchestra over 25 years. He has also been a soloist and guest conductor with Red Mountain. Paul is a former member and soloist with the Magic City Community Orchestra, and former orchestra director at Briarwood Presbyterian Church.
After 20 years in the data processing field, Paul turned his attention to music full time, earning a Master of Music in Trumpet Performance at the University of Montevallo in 2004. There, he studied with Dr. Joseph Ardovino. In addition to The Red Mountain Chamber Orchestra, Paul is a member of the popular German dance band Die Mitternaechters. Paul is currently a network engineer.
