Katie Elise Hall

Winner of the Frances and Dorsey Whittington Competition

Katie Elise Hall is a junior voice performance major from Opelika, Alabama. Before coming to Birmingham-Southern, she studied voice with Mary Josiah Howard of Auburn University. At Birmingham-Southern she studies with Dr. David Smith and, during the present term while Dr. Smith is on sabbatical leave, with Dr. Jacqueline Leary-Warsaw. Katie placed second in the 2000 state NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing) auditions, first in the 2002 state NATS auditions, and third in the 2003 state and regional NATS auditions. She is soprano soloist at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Birmingham, and this spring she will be singing the role of Flora in the BSC Opera Workshop production of Britten's The Turn of the Screw
