Tyler Hokanson
Tyler Hokanson, the son of a violin maker, began studying violin at age nine. He quickly switched to viola, and hasn't looked back since. A graduate of the Thornton School of Music at the University of Southern California, he joined the Alabama Symphony in 2007. As well as his orchestra career, Tyler has pursued various conducting activities, including leading a world premiere at the New Composer's Forum at USC and appearing as a conductor and soloist in Mozart's Sinfonia Concertante, among others. He has studied with John Barnett, Larry Livingston, and Sharon Lavery.
