Wei Dai

Winner of the Frances and Dorsey Whittington Competition

Wei Dai hails from Xiamen China and began learning to play piano at the age of 4. She studied with Mingsun Zhou, a professor at the Central Conservatory of Music and one of the most famous pianists in China. In 2007 she was admitted by the music department of Xiamen University as a major of Music Education on Piano. During the same year, Ms. Dai received First Prize in piano competition held by the China Ministry of Culture. In 2008 she went to Hong Kong to take part in the Fourth Annual World Chinese Teenagers Art Festival and was winner on piano. She has also been employed as a pianist since beginning university. At the present time, Ms. Dai is a transfer student (junior) working toward her Bachelor of Music and studying piano under Professor William DeVan, Artist-in-Residence, at Birmingham Southern College.
